Katelyn DeWitt helps high-achieving professional women overcome burnout, exhaustion, and toxic habits to regain energy, lose belly fat, and strengthen their relationships. After 12 years of working as a Chemist, Katelyn decided to switch careers to inspire women to overcome the toxic traits that are holding them back, an area in her own life in which she worked hard to surmount. She is on a mission to help others discover their true self-confidence and inner peace. She lives in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
I was so stressed with work and life that I was beginning to have constant belly fat, brain fog, and felt exhausted even after a full night of sleep. I thought it was normal and healthy to drink alcohol on the weekends to deal with the stress and brain fog from the week, but it actually created a fracture in my relationship. My drinking to escape reality led to more arguments, stress eating, and anxiousness that I wasn’t doing enough. It wasn’t until I came home from an afternoon of drinking, with a bag of fast food in hand, and an argument ensued that shattered my relationship, that I realized drinking couldn’t solve my stress or fix my relationship.
Then I received my annual lab results and was diagnosed with a chronic disease related to my liver issues from drinking so much. This is when I fully realized my favorite toxic hobby was the culprit. I discovered I was masking my anxiety and exhaustion with alcohol, instead of actually solving the stress from work or my life. It was creating liver issues, inflammation, and even more unease. This was the moment my functional health journey began.
I learned the solution wasn’t another drink, avoiding my responsibilities, or blaming others. The solution was in my hands. If I wanted to change my life around, I had to find healthier ways of dealing with stress and make healthier lifestyle changes around food. I learned that small, simple adjustments could make a powerful difference—not only in how I felt physically, but also in how I handled stress, communicated, and showed up in my relationships. This is when my healing began.
What I love now is the calm and safety my nervous system feels in times of uncertainty and pressure. I no longer reach for an unhealthy, toxic treat to escape. Instead, I find peace from within through conscious, healthy habits. Once the weight began to come off and I was no longer feeling so inflamed, I began waking up with more energy and a clear mind. I was able to lose belly fat, regain my energy, reduce my brain fog and anxiety, and build a healthier lifestyle. And I discovered that I could find myself again—and help others do the same.

The best thing about this experience was that it gave me the courage to talk about a medical change I needed to make but was too scared to do. If anyone is thinking about a health coach, I would recommend if you need an objective, yet supportive, opinion, and motivating, yet gentle, direction, then give this a try. I got new confidence in talking about hard to discuss issues because this was a safe and encouraging experience. I appreciate and am deeply grateful for Kate's support and creative suggestions. The reminder that small steps can have big results has been so helpful. I tend to focus on the negative, so her direction continues to point out successes I would otherwise miss.

My thoughts expanded around food after Kate told me the importance of eating colorful food, the rainbow as she calls it. She showed me how each color is beneficial to the body in unique ways. She has also helped me recognize patterns from childhood, especially around food and "body shaming", and how I used food to soothe during difficult times. I have also learned about boundaries and the importance of self-care / balance; the act of putting my needs first before I take care of others. Kate listens without judgment, accepts feedback in a positive manner, brings an investigative component to the change process, and reflects and accepts everything I share.
